Stephen Root, one of today’s most prolific character actors, has built a career in creating memorable characters in film, television, theatre and animation. Root has three films scheduled for release in the 2016/2017 season. "Three Christs," directed by Jon Avnet, "Infinity Baby," directed by Bob Byington and Melissa McCarthy’s "Life of the Party," directed by Ben Falcone.  With an extensive list of film credits, some include, "Selma," "All the Way" (HBO), "Trumbo," "Hello, My Name is Doris," "J. Edgar," "Rango," "Cedar Rapids," "No Country For Old Men," "The Men Who Stare at Goats," "The Soloist," "Leatherheads," "Finding Nemo," Ice Age," "Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story," "O'Brother Where Art Thou?" and the cult classics "Office Space" and "Idiocracy."

Television has also played an important part in Root’s success. Recent television credits include, "Masters of Sex," "Fargo," "Idiotsitter," "The Newsroom," "The Big Bang Theory," "Louis," "Turn," "Justified," "Boardwalk Empire," "King of the Hill," "24, "True Blood," "Pushing Daisies," "American Dad," "The West Wing" and "Newsradio."

A UF graduate, Root began his theater career touring the US and Canada with the National Shakespeare Company, before moving to New York. There he performed in many regional theatres and starred off Broadway in "Journey's End" and "The Au Pair Man." His Broadway debut came in "So Long on Lonely Street," followed by the Tony awards winning production of "All My Sons."  A starring role as “Boolie,” in the Broadway national touring company of "Driving Miss Daisy" with Julie Harris, brought Root to Los Angeles where he currently resides.
