Geoff Hoyle created the role of Zazu in the original Broadway cast of “The Lion King.” He trained in Paris with Etienne Decroux, and clowned with Bill Irwin and Larry Pisoni in The Pickle Family Circus and later with Cirque du Soleil and Circus Flora. He has performed his original solo shows “Feast of Fools,” “The Convict’s Return,” “The First Hundred Years,” “Geezer” and “Lear’s Shadow” in New York, San Francisco, Paris, London, Berlin, at regional theatres in the US and England, and while visiting circuses in Latvia and Russia. He has appeared in many plays in the U.S., frequently at Berkeley Rep and ACT and in films including “Popeye,” “Smooth Talk,” and “Spirit of 76.” He has received several NEA mime fellowships and a TCG/Pew National Theatre Artists Residency Program Fellowship. He was last seen in San Francisco and Berkeley performing his latest solo, “Lear’s Shadow,” at The Marsh.
